Coraline

Shrek

Techniques & Applications

Coraline

In the Coraline trailer we can see that there is a obvious message which is identified. The message is that Coraline the girl goes a finds another world with another family. However the trailer doesn't show how her parents are the key to the other world. This s where the message comes from. Family is irreplaceable.

Shrek

In Shrek we can see how there is a huge adventure that Shrek and Donkey have to go through. The key message is hidden and is subtly implied. By doing this, this allows people to be intrigued by the film and wanting to watch more/wanting to know what will happen next in the film.

Emotional responses or association

Coraline

In the trailer we can see that there is a lot of emotion showing from the main character. As this is shown in the trailer as we can also see how that emotion reflects onto the audience. Feeling distressed, mad and sad. This helps the audience be intrigued on what going to happen wanting to watch more. This displays emotions and how it's ok to feel emotions no matter what's happening,

Shrek

The trailer has something that many films don't have. This is the unique selling point. This trailer having many different adventures help the audience want to know what will happen next. Did they get the princess safe? What happens afterwards? This trailer can also be relatable, since people have to do stuff (go on a adventure) to get things. This mission will be something people can relate to. When people watch this film they get to understand that anything is possible. Be yourself and you will get positivity.

During this radio advert there are not going to be as many visual effects. This is because the advert will be on the radio and it’ll be heard not seen. Therefore with FX there is not going to be much effect. However, with music it’ll help convey what is really happening in the advert. This helps the audience to get attracted to the advert and make them want to go and pick up the chocolate.

During this advert there are going to be elements of music. The music will help the audience be engaged and help them form a good opinion over the chocolate. Therefore I will use certain music from a Cadbury's Caramel advert. It’ll give the audience nostalgia. I will reference that at the end.

Planning documentation Location Recces

Location Recces:

Why have you chosen these locations and how does it help the audience relate to the chocolate bar?

School - I've chosen my school, Chadwell Heath academy since they're  many areas that are available to use that'll suit my advert. Such as, the playground a group of people (school students) could be talking and someone talks about the chocolate bar and comes out. This location could be very relatable for the target audience since the target audience would be school students (also young adults)

Forest - I've chosen the forest, since the scenery would be bright and may be eye-catching to the audience since it's outside. The chocolate may remind people of the outside since they'll feel nostalgia. When you go outside you feel happiness.

Green screen - I've chosen this since I'll be able to edit any background and use any background. It'll be easy since it's green to cut out and she can choose any background that'll appeal to the audience. It can be anything and i'm able to find any resources and use it.

In the city London - It'll be easy since they'll be loads of buildings. The background may attract tourists, since it'll be in area which is famous. When filming in London it may be overall interesting, it may make the audience want to see more which means that it'll attract more of an audience.

What are the differences of the locations to make the chocolate bar advert?

  • Two of the Locations are inside and the other 2 are outside
  • 1 needs a green screen which we access from school and the rest doesn't
  • Each location has a different meaning and a unique message for the audience
What is your final ideal location to film this chocolate bar advert?

I think for my final idea, I'll be using the school as my main location since it's easy to access and it'll be relatable for the target audience. At school we also have access to a green screen so I'm able to use that also. This means that I'll be combining the two locations together. It won't just attract one target audience but also many different ones.

History of chosen product

 History of Cadbury Caramel Chocolate:

The product I've chosen is Cadbury Caramel chocolate. This product is a dairy milk chocolate with caramel inside. I've choose this advert since it has a lot of history behind it. The product was first launched in 1972. Making it one of Cadbury's most popular products with a big success rate since it's easy to eat the packaging is luxury and it can be eaten on the go. The chocolate Cadbury caramel has a purple and yellow colour way. The top part of the packaging is royal purple, and the bottom half is bright yellow. There's also bold white font on the front of the cover that says dairy milk and cursive purple writing which says caramel. The slogan is Cadbury caramel has a particular slogan which is that there's a "Still got it". In this advert for Cadbury caramel was 16 years ago. This shows that this chocolate has been around for over a decade, and it's still loved by majority of people. However, this advert is no longer on tv as Cadbury has realised a lot more flavours that the younger generation prefer. Although the older generation mainly like this chocolate.
